Duvet -What you need to know...

Duvet: A quilt, usually with a washable cover, that may be used in place of a bedspread and top sheet. Duvet Brands that we believe are the best in their class:

1 - Eddie Bauer
2 - Neiman Marcus
3 - BabyGlee

In our opinion, beyond this list the duvets are so similar that it is hard to even tell one from another. Remember, you get what you pay for.

You will find a down duvet to be the warmest thing for the weight. try and get one that has squares and preferably "box" construction. A good duvet can be expensive but will last a lifetime. the price increases with the amount of down contained (heavier = more expensive), but you probably don't need a really heavy one. The other quality factor that effects price is the kind of fabric: the higher the thread count (number of threads per sq. inch) usually, the higher the price. A higher thread count also makes for softer, lighter weight, stronger fabric. It means less of the feathers escape than from a loose weave.

You may find a duvet cover to heavy to sleep with (personally,I tend to get tangled up in it, so i sleep directly under my duvet). A good duvet is washable and will last for years. Itake mine (it's queensize) to a laundromat that has the big huge machines as it won't fit in an ordinary washer and dryer.

NICE TIP: when you put in the dryer, throw in a couple of new, clean tennis balls with it. they will bounce around and make it come out much puffier, fluffier with the down evenly distributed instead of bunched up.
