Buying a Breast Pump

Ok, I recently went through the process of buying a breast pump and would like to share my experience.

I received recommendations from friends and escecially my lactation consultant. Most people seem to use the Medela breast pumps. A lady I work with had an Ameda, but I didn't really like the carrying case. The Medela just looks a lot better.

Don't buy from real stores! Wow! I couldn't believe the difference in prices from the Net to Real Stores. I did a lot of research online before going to some large retail chains and was a bit shocked at the prices. I could find many online dealers selling the Medela Advanced pump for $250 with free shipping, but retail stores were charging $320 or more for the same pump! I don't normally like to buy things over a certain price online - I like the security of knowing if it doesn't work that I can easily return it, but OHMYGOSH I am not going to pay $90 more.

So, I went looking for trustworthy sites and eventually made my purchase from breast-pumps.org. They were one of the few sites that didn't make me email them for the price.

Anyhow, the pump works great. The best site on the net for all things breat pumpy is Cerean.net - They review pumps and the pump industry (there is a whole pumping culture out there).
