Tip for choosing fabrics for baby bedding: For the first 6 months, babies are not efficient at cooling their bodies through respiration. Keeping the baby cool by using breathable fabric at places where fabrics contacts the baby's skin: lower inside part (one third down) of the head bumper, fitted sheet, receiving blanket or quilt.
Note: To reduce infant death symrome, do not place thick, puffy comforter or pillow in baby's bed.
Best fabrics for baby's bedding: natural fiber or fiber blend such as 100% cotton, cotton blend (at least 40% cotton blend with polyester or ryon), 100% silk, silk blend with polyester or ryon. Look for chenille, matelasse, Egyptian cotton, 100% cotton velvet, wool or wool blend, sateen or cotton blend satin.
Stay away from nylon faux fur faux suede.
